Sonya is a brand-new face in our wrestling world — and I have a feeling you’re going to see a lot more of her!

At 176 cm and 77 kg, she has absolutely amazing proportions for wrestling. She trains hard in the gym, she’s strong, incredibly sexy, moves beautifully on the mats, and most importantly, I LOVE her energy and enthusiasm for fighting.

But she is still very much a beginner. Before stepping onto the mats with Andy, Sonya had only around three wrestling matches behind her. And then we put her against someone you all know very well...

Andy.

Technical, experienced, relaxed and notoriously difficult to beat. And to make things at least a l*ttle more fair for Sonya, Andy had already wrestled a match against me — Lara the Warrior — right before this one. So no, I didn’t exactly send a c*mpletely fresh Andy after our new girl!

Still, experience is experience. Andy knows exactly how to move, when to attack and how to take control, and she clearly enjoys being the woman in charge here.

But Sonya deserves HUGE credit for this match.

She later told me this was her best match so far, and I can absolutely see why. She fights with incredible energy and determination, keeps trying, keeps moving and isn’t afraid to test herself against someone far more experienced.

By the end, Sonya is c*mpletely exhausted. She gave everything she had on those mats, and for someone with only a handful of matches behind her, I think her performance — and especially her courage to take on Andy — deserves serious respect.

She obviously still has a lot to learn, but the raw ingredients are all there: 77 kg of athletic power, great movement, confidence, enthusiasm and a LOT of potential. If this girl keeps learning at this speed, I think she is going to improve very quickly.

For now, Andy gets to enjoy being the experienced woman in charge.
