This is the very first clip we ever filmed with Angel – and it captures her perfectly.

She had just arrived in her tan belted coat and soft pink trousers, paired with strappy embellished sandals. With no previous experience in this type of work, we took her to a quiet industrial estate, put her in this reluctant Metro that had been deliberately made difficult to start (ch*ke on, slightly flooded, generally uncooperative), and simply said: “Get in and try to start it. Do whatever comes naturally — just be yourself.”

No script. No lines. No instructions on what to say or do.

And that’s exactly what makes this clip so engaging. Angel’s dialogue is c*mpletely natural and unscripted — just raw, genuine frustration spilling out as she battles the car. You hear her muttering things like “Come on, start,” expressions of “I’m going to be late,” and other l*ttle bursts of irritation that come when you’re genuinely trying to get a stubborn engine to fire. It’s not commentary or narration — it’s real tone, real personality, and real emotion.

You can see (and hear) that she knows these kinds of older carburetted cars from her background in Zimbabwe and time in the UK. There’s no wild, frantic pedal-pumping — instead she uses the accelerator in a measured, experienced way, combined with turning the key, listening to the engine, and making small adjustments. She stays focused and sticks with it the whole time.

The realism is spot-on: a stunning model in everyday clothes, genuinely battling a stubborn 1980s Metro, with all the natural frustration and spoken reactions that come with it. And the best part? She eventually wins the battle and gets it started.
