The video

First-person POV. The camera is your eyes. Lalo is the only person on screen. You are never seen. You are only the voice he answers to.

Background

Lalo is your manager. Mid-thirties. Dark hair. Always in a suit. Dress socks every day — the kind you notice when he crosses his legs. He has been watching your numbers all quarter. He already wrote the termination. He booked the last slot on Friday so the floor would be empty when he said it.

You have sat across from him for two years. You know the office: glass desk, leather chair, blinds half-dropped. You know how his trousers break over the oxfords. You know he thinks this meeting is his.

It is not.

You entrance him before the folder is open. He keeps looking at the camera like the review is still on. In his head he is still the one in charge. That is what makes the rest of it land.

Suit stays on the whole video. Shoes only come off when a trigger says so.

Show the socks

You say it. Lalo looks into the lens.

Shoes on first. He hikes both cuffs and turns his ankles toward the camera, slow, so the dress socks show around the oxfords — ribbing, a strip of calf, the sock disappearing into the shoe. He holds each side until you say enough.

Then he takes the shoes off. He sets them where the camera can see them. He shows the socks again with no shoes: inner ankle, outer ankle, instep, toes, sole. Same slow turn. Same wait.

Frog

You say “frog.”

Lalo gets down in front of the camera and bounces — l*ttle hops, knees out. Cuffs stay up. Dress socks stay on and show every time he lands. He treats it like part of the review. When you say enough, he sits back in the chair.

Sole up / sole down

You say “sole up.”
