Charley comes home carrying a small box with tiny occupants inside. She comes from the lab, each day with a new ‘bad batch’ of shrunken people. They’re samples of cloned versions of themselves that somehow keep coming out of the experiments shrunken. Charley is the one in charge of finding volunteers and getting rid of their clones when trials don’t go as planned (which has always been so far).

She likes to keep a record of their disposal, which means building a set up and recording herself in video taking their short-lived lives. At first it was routine, but after months of dealing with hundreds of flawed versions of cloned people without having to face even the slightest consequences for her actions, she began to get imaginative and cruel.

Charley starts each video with a cold presentation, explaining her deception to the tiny clone: They’re not the original versions, they’re the procedural ones and, in this case, the disposable ones. The project didn’t go as planned and everyone believes they haven’t still found a way to clone human beings, meaning no one knows about their existence nor miss them in case anything happened to them, so even if they have the same memories, yearnings, concerns or feelings like their original, regular sized versions, it doesn’t make a difference because those lives already exist and thrive.
