The second punishment is reserved for speaking out of turn: attempting to converse with me, talking back, making unnecessary noise, or speaking to other sl*ves. For this, his mouth will be soaped.

I hold the b*r of soap beneath his nose and say, “This punishment is designed to make you think about what comes out of your mouth. Otherwise, this will be going into it.”

I rub it along his tongue, coating it in a thick white paste, working it over his teeth like toothpaste, across his lips, and deep into his mouth until he begins to gag. He is ordered to swallow. “That is going to linger.”

Finally, his collar is clipped to a leash, and he is led away to his cell to begin his new life of sl*very.
