Snowflake is a secretary in a large, rapidly expanding company. Her boss sends her to France because the company, which also has a presence in that country, needs a competent secretary. The problem is that she doesn't speak French, but her boss assures her that they speak English well. Snowflake reluctantly accepts.

Upon her arrival in France, the manager welcomes her. Except there's a problem: he doesn't speak English, nor do the other employees present. She begins to introduce herself, but the manager explains that here, they speak French, not English, and that she must therefore make an effort to understand.
