Prologue:

Mike loved his model cars more than anything else. He looked after and cared for the l*ttle cars as if they were part of a miniature world in which every piece of tidiness counted and every speck of dust was an enemy. He regularly polished the shiny surfaces and sorted them by brand, year of manufacture and color. Every new model was a small triumph for him, every d*maged part a personal drama.

That afternoon he visited Mila. Mila was known more for her quick wit, dry humor and fearlessness than for an interest in toy collections and valuable things. But she patiently let him show his collection. Her eyes glided over the many models like a well-stocked shop window. She smiled, almost mockingly, when she saw the dedication with which Mike handled each individual model.

The impulse grew in her to put his seriousness to the test. She found it fascinating how attached a person could be to things that didn't move, didn't live, didn't even make a sound. For her, it was just a toy - for him, it was almost a religion.

Without thinking, Mila suggested a kind of game, a test of courage - against him. Was it possible to disrupt this world without hesitation?

She took three of the models and placed them on the floor. When she stepped on them with her ankle boots, she d*maged the roof and scratched the paintwork. Her face remained expressionless. Then she turned to another model and stamped on it until all cars broke into pieces.

Epilogue:

Mike stood by and watched as piece after piece of his collection fell into ruins. The initial shock gave way to a mixture of bewilderment, anger - and then incredulous amazement.

Mila had p*ssed her l*ttle test. No trace of remorse, no hesitation, no guilty conscience.

It was a bitter loss for Mike, and yet he noticed something strange inside him: curiosity. Perhaps even respect. Not for the destruction, but for Mila's indifference - and the consistency with which she had broken through his perfect world.
