Shoulder to shoulder, the cloaked fanatics trudge through the dark corridors beneath the ruins of the old church. Kanon keeps her head down concealed in her hood, trying not to attract any unwanted attention. During most of her infiltration missions, she often finds herself in a treacherous place filled with people who would do the worst things imaginable to her if they were to find out who she was. But this one takes the cake.

A wealthy businessman had tasked Kanon’s agency with locating his missing step-daughter, who was known to recently have attended one of the shady gatherings of a new, rising religion. To investigate matters further, Kanon infiltrates one of their secret meetings, donning one of the cult’s uniformed bl*ck hooded robes. After blending in with the rest of the hooded figures, she walks along until she reaches it. The hallway opens up to a massive, drab space, only illuminated by the odd candlelight scattered throughout the room. In the middle, proudly standing above the masses, is a masked man on a podium. The air thickens as he raises his arms, immediately silencing the murmurs from the crowd. His voice, low and deliberate, echoes through the chamber.
“Step-brother and sisters of the Veiled Dawn, it has come to my attention that we have a deceiver amongst us”, his eyes scanning through the sea of hoods below him. Kanon’s pulse spikes as the cloaked figures begin turning and looking at each other. With the threat of capture looming, Kanon decides to cut her losses and leave, but before she can get back into the hallway, a firm hand on her shoulder spins her around, tearing her hood off her head.

“You aren’t supposed to be here.”
