Bambi goes to the fortune teller because she is curious about her future. The shop is dim, the table between them already set with a deck of tarot cards. The fortune teller shuffles slowly, lets the cards fall where they want, and begins to lay them out. Bambi watches, half-smiling, ready for something vague and flattering.

The first card that matters is turned over. The fortune teller studies it and tells her there are diapers in her future. Bambi blinks. Her first thought is that she might be pregnant. She says so. The fortune teller shakes her head and says it is something else, something closer than that. Bambi leans in, asking for a clearer answer, trying to get the woman to explain what the card actually means.

The fortune teller does not explain. She picks up a small wand, reaches across the table, and touches it lightly to Bambi’s forehead. There is a flash of light — bright enough that Bambi squeezes her eyes shut. When she opens them again the room is the same, but something has changed.

She feels it first: the sudden, unmistakable release of her bladder. Warmth spreads fast. She panics, certain she is about to soak the chair, and grabs the hem of her skirt to yank it up and out of the way. What she finds underneath is not bare skin or underwear. A thick d*aper is already fastened around her hips, the padding bulky between her thighs, the plastic shell smooth and snug, tapes sitting exactly where they should. The wetness she just felt is going straight into it. The d*aper crinkles as she shifts, already taking what she cannot stop.

Bambi stares. The fortune teller is still watching her, calm. Bambi does not stay for the rest of the reading. She drops the skirt, stands up so fast the chair scrapes, and leaves the shop in a hurry — the new d*aper heavy and obvious under her clothes, the crinkle loud with every step, the future the cards promised already happening between her legs.
