The night starts quiet, calm, and full of soft light as I stretch my soles in my tiny apartment. Im supposed to be heading out, but somehow I never leave on time. My boots wait by the door, gleaming and tall, while I wander barefoot across the plush floor, still half?dreaming. The gentle rhythm of my steps creates a sound that mixes with the low hum of the room, every heel lift and toe flex a slow, tired beat.

Wearing a pair of glossy latex gloves, I pull one on with a careful tug, letting the sound crunch and squeak softly, that delicious snap sealing against my wrist. The texture is smooth and perfect, a quiet contrast to my bare skin. I slide the other glove on, flexing my fingers, admiring the shine that catches the morning light. My intention is simple: slip into my boots and finally leave the house. But as always, something small manages to distract me.

As I reach for the first boot, I notice a l*ttle fleck of something near the sole a tiny shimmer clinging to the polished surface. I crouch to inspect it, brushing gently with a gloved fingertip. Hmm whats this? I murmur to myself, the sound barely above a whisper. The surface of the boot shines again, but the small specks seem to move on their own, dust that resists being ignored. I tilt my head, amused, then smile. My world is so full of strange, delicate surprises lately.

The air carries the faint scent of rubber and perfume as I open the other boot. My reflection dances across the material as I slide one leg inside, the soft glide of it hugging my skin. I pause again, feeling a tickle near my ankle. More tiny flecks this time on the floor, catching the light. I laugh softly, shaking my head as I bend to swipe them away. My gloved hands move slowly, tracing arcs in the air. The faint, crisp sound of latex brushing against leather fills the space.

Minutes melt away. I forget the clock and my destination. Instead, Im caught up in this small ritual of motion and sound the pull of my boots, the subtle pop of the gloves flexing, the faint rustle of fabric as I shift positions. The tinies around my feet dont exist to me as anything more than dust and light, but they draw my focus anyway, impossible to ignore. I brush them aside again, then sigh at the persistent shimmer that seems to cling to every inch of my floor.

Finally, both boots slide securely up my legs, glossy and perfect. I straighten, the creak of the latex carrying through the air like music. My gloves smooth the tops of the boots with slow satisfaction, ensuring not a single speck mars the finish. For a moment, I sit still, admiring the sight tall, polished, ready. Somewhere below, a whole hidden world stirs unseen beneath my rhythm. To me, its just a clean floor, a calm day while I stomp through the world, and the soothing sound of perfection in motion. Another unaware evening, complete.
