It was a particularly chaotic Saturday afternoon at the "Grand Shopping" mall. Nicoletta had decided to dedicate an afternoon entirely to herself, having wandered for about two hours among the sparkling shop windows. To cool off, she had just finished drinking a huge fruit smoothie, enjoying it as she moved from one department to another.

However, just as she was trying on a pair of sneakers in a store on the top floor, she felt an unmistakable signal: she had to go to the bathroom. And it wasn't a mild sensation; it was a sudden urgency, fueled by the maxi drink she had just finished.

"Damn," Nicoletta thought, looking at the shoes on her feet.

She quickly slipped off the sneakers, put her own ankle boots back on, and placed the box back on the shelf. There was no time to lose. She exited the store at a brisk pace and began scanning the signs hanging from the ceiling. The restroom icon indicated an arrow pointing right, at the very end of a long corridor.

Nicoletta sped up. The mall was packed with people: she had to slalom between families with strollers and groups of teenagers 18+ walking slowly and blocking the entire walkway. The further she walked, the more the need to p*e increased, making every step feel heavy.

Finally arriving at the end of the hall, she found a sign that came as a cold shower: "Restrooms - Lower Floor."

The escalators were on the opposite side of the atrium. Nicoletta saw an elevator nearby and pressed the c*ll button several times, impatiently. Luckily for her, the doors opened almost immediately, and it was empty.

She descended to the floor below, drumming her fingers on her shoulder bag. As soon as the doors reopened, she spotted the entrance to the restrooms. There was a small line, but fortunately, it was moving quickly. Nicoletta waited for her turn, bouncing imperceptibly in place, mentally counting the seconds. When a green door finally opened and a lady stepped out, Nicoletta rushed into the stall and locked the latch with a quick motion.

It was a moment of pure relief. The accumulated tension and the desperate run vanished in an instant.

After a few minutes, Nicoletta stepped out of the stall feeling like a new person. She washed her hands calmly, fixed her hair in the mirror, and breathed a long sigh of well-being. The emergency was over. Relaxed and calm, she headed back toward the escalators to return to the store: those sneakers were still waiting for her.
