Sorrido, perché so che basta un mio dito, un impercettibile movimento, e lui striscia senza esitazione pur di compiacermi. Non ha volontà, non ha orgoglio: esiste solo per servire.

Il secondo schiavo arde legato sotto il sole. Lo faccio disporre in una posizione volutamente scomoda, così che il suo corpo teso e sudato non possa trovare alcun sollievo. Ogni goccia che gli cola addosso è un atto di devozione forzata, un tributo al mio potere. Lo guardo mentre si contorce, e rido della sua impotenza: più cerca sollievo, più lo divora la corda e la mia crudeltà. Gli concedo lo spettacolo del mio disprezzo, perché il suo sacrificio serve a un solo scopo: intrattenermi.
