The Embezzlement CASE Episode 2:
Kanon goes back to School - PART 1

Private investigator Kanon is back at it again! Her pursuit of a group of infamous board members, part of a massive banking corporation, is turning out to be her biggest investigation yet! With a multitude of targets to look into on her list, she decides to go with Saburo Okada. Reading through the file she compiled on Mr.Okada, he is a middle-aged man with greying hair and is currently Director of Compliance for the Horizon Holdings Corporation. His overly cautious nature and his strict, proper demeanour fail to mask his insatiable appetite for power. Known for threatening and silencing whistleblowers as well as fabricating regulatory compliance documents, he’s also suspected of orchestrating most of the bank’s cover-ups for *llegal activities. Yet, despite his rough exterior, Mr.Okada has a special soft spot for his only step-daughter, Aiko, who is still in school. Equipped with this valuable information, Kanon decides the best course of action is to go after his step-daughter to seek out any incriminating info she may have on her step-father, but in order to do so without seeming suspicious, she will go undercover as a schoolgirl. Again.

After sorting out all the required documents to enroll, Kanon is off to school! She arrives in class and immediately gets attention from all the boys, but gracefully dismisses them, heading straight towards her target’s step-daughter, Aiko, to strike up a conversation. Fortunately, the two begin to get along and before too long, they are joined at the hip. After a week, Kanon asks Aiko if they can go back to her house after school to study and hang out, to which Aiko happily agrees.

Once inside Mr.Okada’s home, Kanon studies with Aiko in her room until quite late and Aiko goes to bed. Now free to roam, Kanon quietly sneaks out and starts looking around, scouring through Mr.Okoda’s bedroom and finally his office. She sifts through his desk drawers, not turning up any information of significance, until she finds a false bottom in one of the drawers. Kanon pops it open to discover a USB along with some damning files containing a list of government officials that can be bribed. Jackpot! She takes the USB and the files before discreetly walking out. However, just as she closes the door to the office, she hears a stern voice behind her and quickly spins around in surprise.
“ What are you doing in my office? And what is in your hand? ” Mr.Okoda says.
Thinking quickly on her feet, Kanon tries to laugh it off, claiming to have got lost looking for the bathroom, but the wary man isn’t convinced. He pulls her arm out from behind her back and glances at the files in her hand. He immediately realises what’s going on, and before she knows what’s happening, she’s being hauled away and thrown into a blacked-out room.
