You have come to me for therapy for a few months now. We have worked together on trying to calm your stress levels down and to find ways for you to manage your anxious need to control everything around you. I do think we have made some progress, but incrementally so. I have given it some thought, and I have a methodology I would like to try with you. I have no doubt it will be very effective...but it will also be very permanent.

If you were to say...shrink to the size of someone who would fit into the palm of my hand, you would have no choice but to let go. Let go of the stressors beyond your control. I'm not talking about envisioning you as a tiny person. I mean me actually shrinking you to the size of a l*ttle person who would fit into my pocket.

I'm not surprised by your confusion and disbelief. It is a rather unorthodox approach. But rest assured, I am very capable of shrinking you. And I believe you would greatly benefit from it. Here...allow me to demonstrate. I know you don't believe me. But you'll believe me the moment you start shrinking.

I wave my hands over you and suddenly snap my fingers. You begin to get smaller...and smaller...and smaller, until you're the size of a doll. You are shocked. I grab hold of you and place you into the palm of my hand.

Now tell me, my l*ttle tiny one: now that you're so small, you can no longer be responsible for all the things that kept you up at night. Everything is beyond your control now. You have no choice but to let go, relax, and enjoy your new found diminutive stature.
