We take the challenge and jump across. We struggle to climb the slick slope; the logic of leaving on our shoes for traction makes sense as we try to maintain our footing. Janira comments on our progress as if she’s enjoying this “sporting event,” especially when someone fails! Some of us failed even to make the jump across the moat – what losers! Others make good progress up the hill but suddenly lose their footing and slip... Janira’s favorites are the ones who fall and take out one or more guys below! She just laughs uproariously at their screams of terror before they go “plunk” into the acid bath! We are plummeting to our s left and right. The herd is thinning quickly...

Slowly but surely, some of us are inching closer to the top. It feels as though we could almost reach out and touch her high heels dangling imperiously in front of us!
